When you think Tennessee, you don’t necessarily think a winter wonderland. Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park disproves that misconception, offering a ski resort, aerial tramway and an overall year-round attraction.
Family-owned and operated, Ober Gatlinburg has proven to be a popular spot since its opening in 1961. The ski resort and amusement park features nine trails serviced by two quads, one double and one surface lift. Terrains of all levels can be found at the ski resort, including slopes for a beginner experiencing the winter sports for the first time to moguls and terrain park fit for the seasoned expert. The resort’s snowmaking system guarantees snowy conditions at all times, spreading the wintry mix across the hills as soon as temperatures drop.
Don’t have your own equipment? Ober Gatlinburg has a rental fleet of 1,800 pairs of shaped skis and 300 snowboards and the staff will get you set up and ready to hit the slopes. If you lack any snow gear at all, at the Ober renal shop you can find ski pants, jackets and helmets. A courtesy booth offers free day use for equipment check while you explore the grounds and facilities.
Learn to ski and snowboard at the Gatlinburg Snowsports Center. Leave the difficult task to the pros who will help you learn and show you how fun snow sports can be! Learn the techniques of gliding, slowing down, stopping, turning and more through group and private lessons for both adults and children.
Take a break from the slopes and stop in at Ober Gatlinburg’s restaurant and lounge, featuring a large, wood-burning fireplace and views of the slopes and mountains. Stop in at one of the shops, including stores in the Downtown Tramway Mall or inside the resort.
